*VIRTUAL* Understanding Complicated Grief with Dr. Katherine Shear
November 6, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Founder of Columbia University’s Center for Complicated Grief, Dr. Katherine Shear will lead this workshop about complicated grief for community members and professionals.
A natural response to loss, grief is complex, varying, and multifaceted. While everyone grieves in their own way, for most people, grief diminishes as they as find ways to accept the death and restore wellbeing. For about 10% of bereaved people, the process of adapting to the loss is derailed and acute grief is prolonged, impairing functioning.
Dr. Shear will explain how complicated grief can be reliably identified. Research suggests people suffering in this way respond better to targeted complicated grief treatment than other forms of treatment. CEUs available for an additional $50.
